I think one of the most exciting aspects of being a designer is being able to apply our skills to other hobbies and interests. Some of my friends have created publications beautifully documenting football programs, others have put the energy into ocean conservation projects. For me, the outlet for my creativity has overlapped with my passion for running.
Unlike London, Southsea didn't have much in the way of run clubs for younger people, so when Alice & Molly put together a Facebook group and invited everyone to a weekly Monday evening run I recognised the potential it had for the city and was interested in being involved.
It was clear the culture was lighthearted and playful, a club that didn't take itself too seriously and would feel welcoming to anyone wanting to run. I wanted to ensure the brand would reflect this, a big chunky font and banana mascot were early ideas that quickly cemented themselves as key visual devices.
With the club growing steadily the brand has had to keep pace, alongside creating fun details and several rounds of garments, we've partnered with illustrators and brands and created multiple mini-designs for events we've hosted.
